The year 2020 was a difficult for musicians in the Hudson Valley and around the world. It seemed like live performances for most musicians dried up almost overnight. This has been pretty heartbreaking for those of us in the entertainment business. However, for a business to succeed, it is important to always look at adversity and find a way to spin this into opportunity. In the case of HarmoniousMusic.com the downtime resulting from a lack of rehearsal and performances, has opened the opportunity to update the website’s interface. As a result, in the words of The Who’s Pete townshend, “I got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year.”
New Improved User Interface
A lot has changed since HarmoniousMusic.com was first launched in 2009. There have been numerous key member changes within the Harmonious Music ensemble. The site’s founder Eric Ortner has been performing with several different ensembles. In some cases, these have been piano and violin duets, string trios suitable for wedding ceremonies or cocktail hours. Other ensembles and rock bands have included original song writers and cover dance bands. Life comes at you fast and hard. So while the past twelve years have been an productive and exciting, there really has not been much documentation of it. The intention is that the next several blog posts will consolidate some of the accomplishments completed during this time frame.
New Artists Section Enhances Available Hudson Valley Ensembles
Those familiar with HarmoniousMusic.com will notice that there are now far more ensembles available than the piano and violin duet that the website originally was intended to promote. There is now a new section dedicated to individual artists. For example, today harmoniousmusic.com promotes:
- Solo Violin – Eric Ortner
- Violin and Piano Duet – Harmonious Music
- Violin and Guitar Duet – The Jimmy Lee Duo
- Original Music – Paddy Mac’s Rule Number One
- Traditional and Modern Irish Music – The McGuineas
New Discography Section
The website also now includes a Discography section, which includes the final product of other past musical projects that have been undertaken over the past twelve years or even further back. In addition, there is also now a media section. Here you can locate gallery views of documenting photos and videos from past performances.
Enhanced Blogs
The Blog section of Harmonious Music will continue to be a soapbox to highlight music related anecdotes. This will include things like musical performances that have been attended. Other reading and auditory delights will include strange instruments or sounds that have been discovered and even musical equipment reviews and overviews. In addition, subscribers will be treated to samples of new recordings, details on upcoming or past performances.
But what about the boy? It should be mentioned that Eric Ortner had a son Joseph J. Ortner in June of 2020. So 2020 really wasn’t all bad. Chances are strong that we will see some musings of how music and sound has impacted little JoJo’s world in the blog, as well.
Future Roadmap
As with all websites a successful one will continuously evolve. Therefore, in the future as performances begin to resume after we are all vaccinated. HarmoniousMusic.com readers can expect to see event calendars. You can also expect to see a merchandise section, in the near future. You will be able to purchase downloadable tracks and other
All and all, given the vast improvement of HarmoniousMusic.com, we can be optimistic that ’21 is going to be a good year.
